Lantern festival at mall
JOHOR BARU: There are a series of activities at the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival at Sutera Mall in Skudai from now until Oct 7.
Sutera mall’s senior manager Goh Lak Jin said one of the highlights is a colourful lantern decoration along the mall’s Sutera Walk as well as mooncake and lantern promotions.
“Those interested in learning to make the traditional craft can attend the lantern workshop on the weekends until Sept 19 at the mall’s level 1.
“In line with our efforts to reuse and recycle, we are organising a Green Lantern Making contest using recyclable materials,” he said, adding that participants are required to enter in groups.
“We hope that activities like these will bring a festive mood to our shoppers and educate the younger generation about our culture.
“We also encourage people from different backgrounds to participate in the celebration to create a more harmonious community,” he said.
Other than contests and mooncake promotions, shoppers would also be entertained by Teo Chew, Cantonese, Hainanese and Huang Mei opera shows, lion dance performances and Kwang Xi cultural shows.
“Shoppers will sure be delighted with magic shows, the art of face mask changing performance and Chinese orchestra recitals,” said Goh.
