Only Segamat still affected by floods in Johor
Segamat remains the only district in the state to be affected by floods with 436 people from 101 families still housed at nine temporary relief centres at 12 noon today.
State Local Government, Urban Wellbeing and Environment Committee chairman Tan Chen Choon in a statement said all victims in Segamat involved residents from Jalan Kolam Air, Kampung Batu Badak, Pogoh, Kampung Spang Loi, Kampung Tandong, Kuala Paya, Kampung Sanglang, Kampung Kuing Patah and Kampung Bukit Tunggal.
He said in the morning there were 37 people from seven families in Parit Sulong and Kampung Peserai Lama, Semerah sheltered at Sekolah Agama Seri Chomel and Kampung Peserai Lama hall.
Nonetheless, both centres were closed at 10 am after flood waters receded from the residence of all victims.
He said even though Segamat is still affected, monitoring for floods would continue in all districts by all relevant agencies.
